Closeboard Fencing in Farnham

Closeboard fencing is built in place rather than dropped in as ready-made panels. Vertical feather edge boards are fixed to arris rails running between the posts, overlapping each other to create a solid, continuous face.

That construction is what makes it so durable. There are no thin panel frames to twist in the wind, and individual boards can be replaced later without dismantling a whole section.

Because closeboard is made on site, it follows sloping and uneven ground far better than panels, which is useful across many Farnham gardens. Heights can be set to suit the boundary rather than fixed panel sizes.

We usually recommend concrete or pressure treated posts with gravel boards at the base, keeping the timber clear of wet ground, plus a capping rail to shed rain off the top of the boards.
